Coding Education in Schools

Accredited Coding for Schools: K-12 Computer Science Courses: Enhance education at your school or district with a proven, evidence based, accredited coding for schools curriculum in computer science for educators

Benefits for the Students

Simply Coding for schools courses provide numerous benefits to students. Firstly, they enhance students’ logical thinking and analytical skills. Secondly, coding fosters creativity and encourages students to think outside the box. Additionally, coding curriculum promotes teamwork and collaboration, as students often work on coding projects together. Lastly, coding skills are highly sought after by employers, providing students with a competitive advantage in the job market. With that said, students will learn how to publish their projects live on the web using GitHub (free) to start their online coding portfolio. Self graded quizzes and tests with mentor reviewed uploads are also included. The goal is to give students the resources and confidence to experience real coding with their own text editor and code their own websites, games, and mods.

Challenges and Solutions

Implementing coding programs for schools may present challenges such as limited resources, teacher training, and curriculum development. Free online coding for schools websites such as Code.orgCodecademy, and others are a great start to learn logic and dabble (as the young generation say), but they don’t offer enough support or progression with “real world coding”. We are here to help and collaborate with educators to overcome these challenges. From elementary schools to high schools to charter schools, Simply Coding can be taught as a standalone subject or integrated into existing subjects like math or science. This integration ensures that students receive a well-rounded education for a tech driven world of opportunity. At Simply Coding we take pride in our extensive experience working with schools and charter schools, which is why we are always adjusting our instructional methods and content according to the feedback we receive from thousands of students who have participated in our coding classes.

Supporting Resources and Tools

Numerous resources and tools are available to support coding for schools and the teacher does not need to know coding. Online platforms, coding software, and interactive learning materials provide educators and teachers with the necessary resources to teach coding effectively. We offer a proven evidence based coding pathway for ages 8 to 18 to learn this much needed skill with all coding courses being aligned to various standards and objectives and ADA compliant. Teacher accounts can view each students progress and grades, send messages to students, view scores of tests, quizzes, and project uploads. Chat and email support is available. We also have our own proprietary LMS (learning management system) or we can easily integrate our courses into yours (i.e. canvasmoodle, etc. ).

We have partnered with Simply Coding for several years for the provision of certain specialty technology elective courses. Simply Coding has been very flexible with their delivery by integrating course content in our proprietary management system, which provides a more unified experience for our end users. They have been very reliable with their course deliveries and with maintenance and support of existing courses. Feedback on their curriculum is consistently positive from end users.

I have to say thank you for this program. My son Brandon (Hawthorn Academy) LOVES it! All he wants to do when he gets home from school is code. He had his after school class yesterday and when I picked him up he said “That wasn’t long enough, I want to do more when I get home!” He’s plowing through it and has already finished the entire Intro to Websites Module and is now working on the JavaScript – Platform. He created his Ping Pong game last night and had so much fun doing it. So thank you. As a programmer myself I’ve wanted to get him interested in coding and thankfully now instead of focusing on being an MLS soccer player he is talking about being a programmer.

My son just started tonight. I am interested in learning with him and may end up getting my own account just to keep up with him. He had already mastered all the free courses so he was ready for a challenge. He could follow along just fine on his own which was nice. Some curriculum is very confusing. You can tell that the instructors know what they are talking about but are not able to communicate it well. That has not been the case with Simply Coding lessons. It was very easy to keep up between the text and/or videos we never felt lost.

Even if you don’t see yourself as a programmer, it’s still a great trait to have.

My 11-year-old son loves the Simply Coding platform, especially the game designer. He‘s wanted to make games for a while, and although he’s tried Scratch and a few other platforms, this one took his skills to a whole new level. I‘ve seen him make great progress in understanding how coding works. He’s learned valuable concepts and tools that have helped spark his creativity. He takes a lot of pride in the work he‘s been able to create. The Simply Coding team has been incredibly responsive and encouraging whenever he needed help, which is a huge plus. The platform’s game designer guides you through coding three separate games from start to finish, with helpful videos and hints to ensure you get it right. Overall, it’s been a fantastic experience—great camp!
